Fit changes and my training

Yesterday evening when I got home I dropped my stem 10mm. I'll ride it for about a week and see how I feel. I also got my 110mm stem in, but I'll wait to see how my drop is before I try putting it on. I really like the changes I've made so far. I contribute the need for the 90 I had on to my gut I had last year. I think it was restricting my breathing. So I'll keep changing until I get to an aero position, or feeling pain, or notice a drop in power.

I've been studying quite a bit about training here lately. Not because I think I need to change anything, but just to better understand the physiological effects of the training I am doing. For me its easier to be confident in what I'm doing if I fully understand what my training is doing for my body. Or in some cases not doing.

With my 4x4min intervals and 3x8min intervals, I'm really focusing on raising my VO2 max. Both intervals are done at over 105% of my FTP. I'm not sure what my Vo2 max is, and one day I'll probably go have it checked just to see. I want to try to raise it as much as possible before I spend the money on it though.

My 2x20 min intervals are there for raising my LT. These are done at 95%-100% of my FTP. I probably slack on these more than my Vo2 intervals just because they take longer. Which in reality I should focus on these as much or more than my Vo2 intervals. Having a Vo2 max of 100 ml/O2/min wouldn't do you any good if your LT was out the bottom. I'll be more attentive on these from now on.

And that's about it. Those are my intervals and why I do them. I usually throw in a long ride every week to keep myself used to burning a few thousand calories. Other than that though, this is the training plan.

Pretty basic, but its working for me.

I wish I had a race this weekend to write about. March 7,8th I'll be back in Greenville though. Can't wait.

Thanks for reading.....
